"Mike has no clue what he's getting into"- Ed |
9 May 2013
As we ("Jude Law"(Ed) and "the Kid"(Mike)) ponder/relax in my living room about the ridiculous adventure ahead, we thought we would describe a few things in our first post. On the 16th, Ed's father, Rayford Haaga, will generously drive us across the state to Knoxville and eventually to the origin of our trip, Damascus, VA. Luckily, we have the great opportunity to kick off our journey with Trail Days in Damascus. Trail Days is a gathering of previous hikers to celebrate what the trail has contributed to their lives. It consist of a three day festival with various types of music, food, speakers, and events. To be honest, we have the slightest idea what to expect, but we will be glad to inform you of the crazy stuff we encounter. Our intentions are to head N on the trail starting Saturday May 18th, which depends on a few varying conditions. We will try to post information & pictures as much as possible, ideally the next being in Atkins, VA in 75 miles en-route.
Peace,
Mike & Ed
